Because of it´s strategic location, "Cruces de Caminos" is an ideal base for your excursions to the different locations of cultural and touristic regions or to the Nature Preserved Areas, and all within less than a 30 minutes by car.
Here visitors can get the chance to discover unique places, such as:
The Monfragüe National Park, which is one of the most famous European ornithological spots. The emblematic Jerte Valley, with its water cascades and it's lovely cherry trees spread throughout. The Ambroz Valley, which has the famous, symbolic Jewish Quarters in Hervas. The Tietar Valley or La Vera Valley, with many more streams, rocky waterfalls and a natural river with built-in swimming pools. We will not forget to mention the Tierras de Granadilla, Sierra de Gata and Las Hurdes all of which are overflowing with enticing surprises for the traveler.
Plasencia is quite an important city because of its notable history and monuments. Cáparra holds the remains of an ancient Roman city. Galisteo stands as a fortified city with it's unique walls which were made by the "Almohades" out of rolled river stone. The Monasterio del Palancar is the tiniest monastery in the world. Granadilla is an old, walled feudal villa close to the well-known Monasterio de Yuste, where the Emperor Charles the Fifth, ( Carlos V de España y de Alemania), built an attached palace for his residence and where he spent his last days in this world.
